Dear Curious,
Yes. This is a great example of a philosophy I live by, which is that the unconscious parts of ourselves are created outside of us so that we find them. Carl Jung is quoted as saying, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." You have Scorpio at the bottom of your chart, the IC point. The IC (Imum Coeli, aka Nadir) is one of the most unconscious parts of the chart.
Starlore.org describes the IC well, saying the IC "relates to the private and sometimes concealed inner person, the instinctual ways of behavior, modes of conduct and what makes individuals feel 'at home' within themselves and with other people. It is at the IC that matters regarding personal security and emotional underpinning come together."
Most people don't even know about their IC, nor do they think that they are most compatible with others who have the same Sun Sign as their IC Sign. Still, it is an important placement in the birth chart that has an influence on our lives.
More generally speaking, I'll add that we all have many different conscious and unconscious parts to us, and our Soul and our unconscious mind are together creating people in our lives to reflect our various traits back to us, both our positive traits and our problematic traits.
In chapter 6 of my book (called Understanding Symbols in Dreams and in Life - coming out later this week!), I write, "You are the center of your world. Everything that happens in your life has to do with you. We can learn about ourselves through other people... or through whatever is happening around us or to us that we are reacting to."
It sounds like all is well with you and these Scorpio folks. If the comfort level you have with them is something you want to recreate with other people in your life, or with yourself, think about what the Scorpio people are bringing out in you. Is it the intensity, insightfulness and passion that you like? Do your Scorpio friends help you access your emotional depths? Is it their drive and determination that you respond to?
Whatever it is you like about them, you have within you, but you may not be consciously aware of it, owning it or living it regularly.
The same holds true for all of us. Whatever we like (or dislike) about another person, we have within us. If it's a positive quality, our admiration of it can be interpreted as our Soul telling us to develop that quality! An emotional reaction to a problematic quality in another (an extreme dislike) is there for us to take a look at that quality within ourselves as well.
It's nice to know that our inner world is so rich, and it's helpful to interpret our emotional reactions as directive guidance from our Souls telling us about the areas of our life that It wants us to work on. As I said, I live by this philosophy and this guidance, and I know my life is smoother and better because of it.
Regardless of a person's Sun Sign, it's a good practice to think about the qualities you most respect in others, and to emulate them. I think it's exciting to know that we really can be the kind of person we admire, and also to know that our Souls actually want us to be. If your Soul wants it, your Soul supports it, so lean on It for assistance and enjoy the helping hand.
