Rejecting Rejection   (1)

2011 | Dec 29

By Tosha Silver

"There is no rejection. Your charts either fit or they don't. Karma or no karma."

—Marlene, my first astrology teacher

"Care about people's approval and you become their prisoner."

—Lao Tsu

I was mentioning last that that I consider each astrology chart like a piece of music. Anyone you mesh with well has a complementary vibe.  A harmonious song is thrumming in each of your souls.

The cool thing is once you know that, you never have to believe in rejection again. No one can reject or 'dump' you.   The people who match you, one way or another, will eventually come if you are open and feel deserving. The ones who don't will fall away.

I think my own chart sits on the crazy Uranian corner where the funkiest of funk hooks up with Mozart, rock-and-roll and some hip-hop Hindu bhajans. People who adore paradox and contradiction always find me, others simply run for the hills.

This week I heard from a friend who just started teaching physics at USF. Diane had just received some evaluations and was freaked. While forty comments were glowing, one review cut so deep, she vowed to never teach again. The woman said her class had probably been "the single biggest waste of time she'd known her entire life."

"Wow,' I laughed, "you gotta admire her dramatic flair. You were worse than eating in the cafeteria in junior high? Worse than watching Bush on his book tour?  Worse than 'Spiderman 3'?

"Ah well, maybe the class really was a huge waste for her? Maybe nothing could have made her happy? I mean, what if her chart had twenty squares with yours? She might have walked into the room and just hated you on sight. That happens, you know.

Or what if she's just pissed at existence in general and nothing can ever please her? Your innocent little Physics 101 might have been caught in the psychic crossfire.

"And anyway, if everyone loves you, you're probably playing way, way, way too safe. If you're for real at least a few people might well be annoyed.

A little criticism sometimes can be an awfully good sign."
