Your Birth Chart: Playing The Hand You're Dealt
Poker is a microcosm of life itself. There's risk, there's reward, there are chances for you to overcome others, and opportunities for you to lose your shirt. Professional poker players spend years learning to read even the tiniest hints from other players as to what those folks are thinking, and spend years controlling those same tiny clues coming from themselves.
It doesn't matter who you are or who good you are with people, though: if you don't understand what the cards you're holding mean — you're going to lose.

Astrology is an amazing way to describe nearly anything in a person's life. Love, finance, health, the future... astrologers get questions about all of it, and a skilled astrologer can provide accurate answers. But, as with poker, it starts from a fundamental base: your birth chart — the alignments between points in the sky at the moment you were born. This is what we call "Natal Astrology" — the answer to life's first questions: who am I, and what am I doing here?
This is so fundamental a point that (ironically) it often gets lost, like a poker player who spends all day studying psychology but forgets that just having a pair of Jacks isn't likely to beat what the other guy is holding. In my experience, most people talk to an astrologer because they want to know what's going on with the other people in their lives, or what the money will be like next year. That's all fair game, but it tends to overlook the obvious fact that whatever it is you're wondering about, YOU are starting point. As the Buddha (or maybe it was Buckaroo Banzai) said: "Wherever you go... there you are."
It's possible, for example, that not everyone you go on a date with turns into a jerk soon afterwards. It's possible that maybe you don't understand your own resources, and as a result, you keep searching for the wrong kind of fuel for your love life. Your job may not be a pain because of the job, but because your skills are being turned to the wrong purpose.
Pretty much everyone knows their Sun Sign, and even most people who don't believe in it know what traits are associated with it. Good luck though if you get a skeptical Sagittarius being all loud and preachy about not believing in astrology, and you point out that "loud and preachy" is one of the classic side-effects of being a Sagittarian. Of course, beyond that there is the equally-important Moon Sign, the Rising Sign, and the sign placements of the other planets. This all adds a degree of color and complexity to the mix, and also greatly refines the accuracy of that first Sun Sign assessment.
In fact, for all of astrology's reputation for being able to predict the future, Natal Astrology may be the biggest gun in an astrologer's bag of tricks. After all, when we hear that someone has died, what we reflect on is who they were and what they did... not whether or not their dates turned out well of their job was lousy. Besides... why spend all your time worry about when you're going to die when there's so much LIVING yet to be done?
